Using Merges
Merges are used to insert typesetting codes into a manuscript when it is ready for composition. An editor or designer can insert a merge code to insure that a heading aligns after a turnover or to set the alignment of the numbers in a numbered list. When the files are sent to compositors, typesetting codes can be placed wherever a particular merge occurs. Since TNTEdit merge codes are special characters in a special font, the merge characters can be replaced with typesetting codes using a simple find and replace operation.
